Richard Botes decided to propose to his girlfriend Samantha Wileman, but he knew such a special event had to be done in style. So he contacted Baobab Canoeing (part of Untamed Africa's Zimbabwe operation) to help him orchestrate this momentous occassion in his life.

Innocent Chigama collected them in one of our spacious Canadian canoes and paddled them down the Zambezi River.

| Meanwhile we sent a canoe ahead to one of the beautiful palm-covered islands in Zambezi River and tastefully set-up a table with gourmet snacks and champagne, and decorated with the leaves of local trees as well as some very aesthetic elephant dung. We stopped at this island, ostensibly for a stretch and a drink. I escorted Richard (and the still unaware) Samantha through the Mahogany forests to the secluded clearing with the table and then excused myself. |

When I returned about 45 minutes later, I found a radiant couple. Much to Richard's relief, Sam had obviously accepted!!! We had a toast to their future together and if you look carefully in this picture you will notice the engagement ring on Sam's hand.

| We packed-up and departed the enchanted island with Richard and Sam obviously glowing. |

As the sun began to set we paddled across a broad sweep of The Zambezi River, with the spray of The Victoria Falls sparkling in the backgorund. What a fitting dramatic end to a special afternoon. We wish Richard and Sam all the best for their future together and trust that the blessing of The Zambezi River will always be with them.
